Transparency International-USA welcomes you to a panel discussion on the importance of knowing who is ultimately pulling the strings of companies bidding for public contracts. The panel will give examples of how the U.S. government, American businesses, and taxpayers have been defrauded by the owners of anonymous companies. The discussion will explore the benefits from adopting open contracting principles and collecting and publishing the ultimate ownership information of any company bidding for government business. The panelists will also discuss practical recommendations for increasing transparency in federal procurement so as to reduce fraud and corruption.
