The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) and the OpenGov Hub are pleased to invite you to a conversation on open data and its uses in international development. The panel features representatives from donors, international organizations and 3ie, who will provide insights on how their organizations use and encourage open data. The event will kick off with a presentation by Felipe Castro, Director of SINERGIA / National Planning Department (DNP) in Colombia, bringing a government perspective on potential uses of open data.
Felipe Castro, Director of SINERGIA / DNP Colombia (connecting remotely)
Amparo Ballivian, Lead Economist - World Bank
Mark Caldwell, Senior Advisor - The Global Development Lab, USAID
Jack Molyneaux, Director, Policy and Evaluation - Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)
Mario Picon, Senior Evaluation Specialist - International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie)
The panel discussion stems from the recently concluded pilot open data challenge organized by SINERGIA / DNP and 3ie. Under this challenge, 3ie and the DNP invited young researchers to explore data from more than 40 independent evaluations financed by 3ie or the DNP. The challenge represents only one of the many ways funders, implementers, and policymakers are showing their commitment to open data to expand research and ultimately the lives of people in low- and middle-income countries.
