Data Journalism Workshop

  • OpenGov Hub 1110 Vermont Avenue Northwest Suite 500 Washington, DC, 20005 United States (map)

OpenGov Hub is providing the space for this excellent workshop run by Iran Open Data.

Following our successful March 2017 data journalism workshop in London, this June Iran Open Data is hosting a free two-day data journalism workshop in Washington, DC. The workshop will be led by freelance journalist and data researcher George Arnett (formerly of The Guardian).

Is this workshop for me?

You’re knowledgeable about Iran and you’re either an experienced journalist or researcher who has published articles as a freelancer, staff reporter, or academic, or you’re a data analyst who loves finding narratives in numbers. If you satisfy both criteria, even better!

What you’ll learn

During this interactive workshop we’ll introduce useful tools for data visualisation and review and critique some great (and not so great) data journalism pieces. You’ll work in small groups with George’s guidance, feedback and support to choose an angle, write the topline, and produce your own data journalism piece.

How to apply

If you’re interested in applying to attend the workshop, please fill in this form by Sunday, 7 June 2017 at 11PM GMT. Space for participants is limited, and we anticipate strong interest in the event.

We will notify you of the outcome of your application by 9 June 2017.
