Nepal Post-Earthquake: Building Resilience Film Screening

  • OpenGov Hub 1110 Vermont Avenue Northwest Suite 500 Washington, DC, 20005 United States (map)

This is an event put on by OpenGov Hub member Accountability Lab.

To make sense of the devastation after Nepal's dual earthquakes in 2015, five filmmakers from Nepal - through the Accountability Lab and Onion Films, Accountability Film School - traveled across the country seeking true stories of hope, strength, and integrity. The people of Nepal have demonstrated remarkable resilience and the ability to adapt despite rapidly changing circumstances. But far too often these stories are not shared by the international media. To help rebuild Nepal, we need to make sure these voices are told. The real stories of Nepal are not just of devastation, but of survival, hope and resilience. These voices are essential - because they move beyond the pictures of devastation to show the reality - ordinary people showing extraordinary resilience.

Visual storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to engage with audiences and spark meaningful conversations and action. Come join us and the Nepali diaspora community for the screening of Building Resilience films followed by vibrant conversations, Nepali food and music. This series celebrates the remarkable resilience of so many across Nepal and inspires hope for the future.
