IdeaHack is a monthly gathering at Civic Hall that brings developers, community organizers, and civic leaders together to create useful applications using open data. This month’s IdeaHack is co-hosted by Civic Hall and the OpenGov Hub and will focus on civic tech and open data for open government.
OpenGov Hub is a co-working community in Washington, DC and a network of 40 organizations promoting open government reforms around the world. Many OpenGov Hub members are coming to New York for activities around the UN General Assembly and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This gathering is an opportune time for the complementary Civic Hall community (in New York) and the OpenGov Hub community (in DC) to mingle and explore shared interests.
Etalab and Civic Hall are co-organizing an OGP Toolbox Hackathon this day, so we will focus on hacking ideas specifically related to the SDGs and Open Government Toolbox Project. We will begin with a brief introduction to the OpenGov Hub and a few quick talks about practical open data cases.
Then we’ll share our ideas and break out into short work-sprints to hack those ideas into actions. This will be a great opportunity to meet and brainstorm with like-minded people interested in applying open data to tackle challenges, both here in the U.S. and globally.
Food and drinks provided.
